Skills & Qualifications
TREASURER - Approximate hours = 4 to 6 hours a month
Financial, accounting, budgeting, and fundraising non-profit experience.

The Treasurer shall be responsible for the safeguarding of all funds received by FH and for their proper disbursement. Such funds shall be kept on deposit in financial institutions or invested in a manner approved by the Board of Directors.

He/She is the steward of FH’s fiscal and risk management policies and procedures, Internal Control Policies (Bookkeeping controls), secure financial records and data, and overseeing the Financial Bookkeeper’s work.

Review the monthly financial report prepared by Financial Bookkeeper and present the report to the Board.

Oversee the annual auditing process and preparation of annual financial reports.

Review the Annual Financial Statement submitted by the Financial Bookkeeper, submit to the Board of Directors and once approved, submit and present financial reports at the AGM.

Assist the FH Director and Committee Chairs in developing a yearly budget.

Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the Board Chair.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE / EVENTS - Approximate hours = 10 to 12 hours a month
We are looking for members to join us on the fundraising committee or organize/host a fundraising event with family and friends.

Previous fundraising experience would be an asset;

QUIXOTE HOUSE PROGRAM - Approximate hours = 15 to 20 hours a month
Grocery Shopper - Task Summary
Volunteer shoppers would be expected to shop for staple grocery items for our men’s residence. This would require shopping twice a week. Volunteers would discuss the week’s menu with the men and make a list of essential items which they then shop for and purchase on behalf of the home. Volunteer shoppers must work within a budget amount, be frugal, look for sales, project future buying (special annual events i.e., Christmas) & projected usage for the home (personal items i.e., Kleenex, bathroom tissue, etc.). Shopper needs to keep track of inventory and provide receipts for all weekly purchases. Each shop would include the shopping for groceries, delivery of the groceries, unpacking, and putting away in the home. Proper hand sanitizing and health and safety must adhere to each time when entering & exiting the home and while shopping. This position requires a weekly commitment. The shopper will be responsible and therefore needs to be trustworthy with money or credit card and submit all receipts for purchases.
• Must have own vehicle.
• Provide satisfactory references.
• Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Must have a flexible schedule and be able to coordinate shopping, grocery drop off and placement within the home.
• Must be a reliable self-starter who prefers minimal supervision.
• Must be non-judgmental and respectful of clientele and maintain the confidentiality of residents and organization.
• A strong sense of health and safety protocols is an asset.
• Volunteer must be in a good health and be able to manage stairs.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide availability to meet with residents, map out the week’s menu, and ensure shopping a minimum of once a week and a maximum of twice a week.
• Coordinate shopping and drop-off schedule the same day.
• Collect and submit receipts for each grocery order, one copy for the client, and one
for self to help with review and alignment of monthly expenses and budget.
• Maintain and submit a monthly log of the dates and the number of hours spent
volunteering.
• Adhere to health and safety practices outlined by the province, or the City of Winnipeg, and the organization.
Inform the Director immediately if:

Unable to shop any longer, for a short period of time or requesting vacation time.

If you no longer wish to volunteer.
-
If going to be away for an extended period of time.
-
If displaying unwell symptoms.
-
If there is an incident (any odd or unusual events occur) and fill out a written
incident report to be submitted within 24 hours.
